I was given a gift early in life; a second chance. As a teenager I was diagnosed with a potentially fatal, hereditary blood disease. Fortunately, I lived within minutes of one of the worlds premier Cancer and Blood  Research Hospitals.

Driving back to my high school after reciveing the news, I said a short prayer, “Lord, it is in your hands.” (I still  remember the exact intersection where I said that prayer) I was never worried from that moment on.

M.D. Anderson developed a remedy for my extremely rare condition. 

I can honestly say, this experince was a blessing. Since that day, I live life one day at a time and it has taught me to be grateful in all situations.
